Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 26, 2026Surface ("we", "us") is a mobile app that turns photos of street surfaces into wallpapers, posters, stickers, and stylized text. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Photos you capture or pick. When you transform a photo, it is uploaded to our servers and sent to our AI processing partner (fal.ai) to generate your artwork. Your originals and generated artworks are stored in your library until you delete them.
- Account info. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or use the app anonymously. We store an account identifier and, if you sign in, the name and email your provider shares. We verify sign-in tokens on our servers.
- Usage data. In-app events (e.g. a transform completed, a result saved) tied to your account identifier, used to understand and improve the product. Stored in our own database; not sold or shared with ad networks.
- Purchases. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. We never see or store your card details — payment is handled by Apple.
- Diagnostics. Crash reports via Sentry (device model, OS version, stack traces). No photo content is attached to crash reports.
What we don't do
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). If this ever changes, we will ask for permission first via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use your photos to train AI models.
Website pre-orders
This section covers our website (street-to-art.web.app) only, not the app. If you leave your email there, we store it together with your answers to the short quiz, the plan you pre-order (if you do), and ad-click details (such as the campaign name and Meta click identifiers). We use them to email you when Surface launches and, only if you tick the box, to send occasional product news. If you place a paid pre-order, the payment is handled by Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record: you enter your payment details on Paddle's checkout, and we receive only the order details (email, plan, amount, country) — never your card. To measure our ads, the website uses the Meta Pixel (in Europe and Turkey only after you accept) and we send Meta a hashed, unreadable version of your email. Email tknappstudio@gmail.com to have your email and answers deleted.
Processors
Apple (payments, sign-in) · Google (sign-in, cloud infrastructure — our servers and storage run on Google Cloud in the EU) · fal.ai (AI image processing) · RevenueCat (subscriptions) · Sentry (crash reporting) · Meta (website ad measurement only) · Paddle (website orders and payments). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Storage & retention
Your photos and artworks are stored on Google Cloud Storage (EU region) and kept until you delete them or delete your account. Usage events and logs are retained for product analytics and abuse prevention.
Your rights
You can delete individual artworks in the app. To delete your account and all associated data, or to request a copy of your data, contact us at tknappstudio@gmail.com — we respond within 30 days. Surface is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We'll update this page when the policy changes; material changes will be noted in the app.
